The 8M400F is a high power, high output 200mm (8 inch) midrange for high end professional use. The excellent sound quality was achieved as a result of extensive research on mid-frequency intelligibility. The 8M400F has been designed to be used as both horn and direct radiation midrange, closer or reflected enclosures, up to 3 lt. The curvilinear cone, made with high damping wood pulp, was designed to achieve the best possible linearity within its frequency range. The internally developed cone treatment is also a moisture repellent significantly dampens the resonance of the bell mode. The 51 mm (2 inch) ISV aluminum voice coil assembly is wound on a sturdy fiberglass former to improve force transmission and handling power. ISV technology is based on a high strength fiberglass former with half of the coil wrapped outside and half inside and glued together using a unique high temperature resin adhesive. The powerful magnet assembly ensures a high flux concentration. The force factor and the power handling are at an optimal level. The direct contact between the finned basket and the magnetic structure greatly improves the thermal connection and heat dissipation, further increasing power management and reducing power compression. The copper shorting loop on the pole expander reduces inductance and improves transient response and mid-frequency phase control.
